Sari Ronen is a contemporary visual artist residing in Toronto, Ontario. She graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Fine Art and has a Masters of Education in Language and Literacy from the University of Toronto. For over two decades, Ronen has studied under master artist Jacob Pichhadze and has previously interned at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

A true creative, Ronen is animated and colourful, with a passion and high enthusiasm for abstract expressionism. Her artworks are reflections of her state of being, personal thoughts, and inner emotions. Each painting is approached through free expression and holds its own significance in Ronen’s experience. Her compelling compositions seduce viewers through their abstracted imagery, encouraging them to participate in the process of creation while forming their own personal meanings and connections.  Ronen strives to create provocative artworks with bold colour choices, depth, complimentary elements, and balanced compositions. Working primarily in acrylic and oil paint, Ronen pushes the boundaries of colour theory and mark-making through her playful use of colour and layered texture. Her diverse portfolio illustrates her continuously evolving style, yet maintains common characteristics unique to her personal rhythm.

Inspired by city living, her love of music and her study of Multiliteracies, Ronen’s paintings are both conceptual and intuitive. Her artistic influences include Willem de Kooning, Sam Francis, Hans Hoffman, Clyfford Still, Mark Rothko and Wassily Kandinsky.
